The formula
No formula: each result applies a different capitalisation and word-joining rule to your text.
What each style is for
- UPPER CASE / lower case: shouting, labels and normalising data.
- Title Case: headlines. Small words such as "of" and "the" stay lower case.
- Sentence case: the first letter of each sentence.
- camelCase and PascalCase: variable and class names in programming.
- snake_case and CONSTANT_CASE: Python variables, database columns and constants.
- kebab-case: URLs and CSS class names.
An example
The text "user account settings" becomes userAccountSettings (camel), UserAccountSettings (Pascal), user_account_settings (snake), user-account-settings (kebab) and USER_ACCOUNT_SETTINGS (constant).
Good to know
Title Case follows a simple rule of keeping common small words lower case. Style guides such as AP, Chicago and APA differ slightly, so check yours if it matters.
