The formula

Each number is drawn uniformly from the range using your browser's secure random source.

How it picks numbers

The numbers come from the same cryptographic random source your browser uses for security, rather than a simple formula that can be guessed. We also avoid "modulo bias", a subtle flaw that makes some numbers slightly more likely when the range does not divide evenly.

Good uses

  • Raffles and giveaways: pick unique numbers matching ticket numbers.
  • Choosing who goes first, or splitting a group.
  • Sampling rows from a spreadsheet.
  • Games, tabletop sessions and quizzes.

Things to know

If you ask for 10 different numbers from a range that only has 5, the tool will tell you it is impossible rather than loop forever. The minimum and maximum are both included in the range.

Random Number Generator: frequently asked questions

Is this truly random?

It is as good as a browser gets. It uses the Web Crypto API, which is designed to be unpredictable, so it is fine for draws and games. It is not a substitute for audited lottery hardware.

Can I use it for a legal draw?

It is fine for informal raffles. For regulated draws, follow the rules of your local gambling or lottery authority.

How accurate is this calculator?

It uses standard double-precision arithmetic, accurate to about 15 significant digits. Results are rounded only for display.

Is what I enter in this calculator saved or sent anywhere?

No. The calculation runs in your browser, so what you enter is not sent to our servers. We only count, anonymously, whether a tool ran successfully.

Is this calculator free to use?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and has no usage limit.
