The formula
Sale price = original x (1 - discount %). With two discounts: original x (1 - d1) x (1 - d2).
Finding the sale price
A 80 item at 25 percent off costs 80 x 0.75 = 60, and you save 20.
Stacked discounts
Two discounts do not simply add. 25 percent off, then a further 10 percent off, is not 35 percent off. It is 80 x 0.75 x 0.90 = 54, a 32.5 percent total discount. The second discount applies to the already reduced price.
Finding the percent off
Switch to "Find the percent off" and enter the original and the sale price. If something went from 120 to 90, the discount is 30 / 120 = 25 percent.
